Rob was an entrepreneur, businessman, leader, mentor, friend and a consummate stirrer!

Rob set about creating the leading pallet manufacturer in New Zealand. A feat that he achieved by his absolute commitment to the customer and maintaining the highest standards.

In 1984, Rob established Timpack Industries Ltd (in partnership with the late Ossie James) at Norton Road in Hamilton by buying the pallet operations of the NZ Dairy Company. In 1998, Timpack amalgamated with Brimco Holdings, retaining the Timpack name to form what is the today's version of Timpack Industries Ltd, covering manufacturing and recycling of pallets and bins or "Total Pallet and Bin Solutions."

Timpack today employs over 170 people across 6 sites throughout New Zealand. Through Rob's vision, efforts and perseverance we are recognised as the leader in pallet and bin solutions in New Zealand. We set the benchmark and that is the mantle that we, the staff and management must accept to maintain this standing.

Rob's list of achievements with Timpack are many:

• First pallet company to have an accredited quality system
• First to adopt computer aided pallet design;
• First to import an automated pallet making machine.
• Imported Chilean pine (when the mills were trying to strong arm the industry)
• Set up Dairy Logistics to undertake a national bid for the dairy industry pallet & bin business. This was to compete against bids from some huge international companies.

Rob was fastidious and he led by example, the presentation of our Branches are second to none.

Rob made sure working for Timpack was fun and rewarding. It is testament to the culture Rob has established at Timpack that the average length of service of our staff is greater than 10 years with many staff having clocked up over 20 years !! Rob valued trust and loyalty and in return for that Rob was extremely generous.

Rob loved his toys, not just his cars, but the Pallet Machines & other machinery that Rob would buy on his overseas trips. They were a source of pride for Rob and kept Timpack at the forefront of the industry.

Rob, You were our inspirational leader, and mentor. You gave us P.R.I.D.E. You leave behind a great company. A place where you will not be forgotten and where your spirit and standards live on. Your sense of humour will be missed.
